Etal Class 2024-25

Etal Beach School - Mountains of the World December 24

What a wonderful a way to begin our Beach School adventures for the year and have the amazing children of Etal class as out first class to set the standard. There may have been some very chilly weather leading up to the day but we had fantastic winter sun as we headed off for our day themed all about Mountains of the World. We were quick to start identifying the seasonal signs and some nature species on our walk to the beach. Once there, we began with some of our favourite warm up active thinking games. We then worked on developing our geographical knowledge, our understanding and skills to enhance our geographical locational and place knowledge as we created major mountains of the world in our groups. We thought about the different types of mountains, how they had been formed and the features of them. We shared some interesting facts and during lunch we were inspired by the story of Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay. The rest of the day was filled with teamwork challenges to construct a strong mountain, developing our speaking and listening skills as we shared our creations, we made our own plays about a mountain expedition, crated our own award for an expedition and even tried some reflective writing about our geographical learning. It was a wonderful adventurous day.
