Hipsburn Sports Day 2024
We were so proud of all the children at Sports Day but especially Reception, their first one with the whole school.
The points were collected (as well as the children collecting stickers for their efforts) for each Crew and overall Red North Crew won! They will be receiving their medals in celebration assembly this week.
The children absolutely loved getting to watch the parents (and the teachers') race too!
Well done, everyone and thank you to our Year 6 Sports Leaders that helped run the event too.
Hockey
Our KS2 children enjoying some after school hockey skills - there has been lots of fun through rain and shine.
Junior Golf
Alnmouth Golf Club gave us a special treat in July when Joe Clements, PGA Professional, visited and taught the children new skills. The children loved the games and can't wait for the next visit!
Hipsburn Sports Day 2022
A big thank you to everyone for making Sports Day so special for the children. We are particularly proud of our School Sports Organising Crew who helped choose the races, prepare the activities and award the stickers. The crew received training earlier this year in School Sport Leadership, with other girls from local schools, as part of an Enrich initiative from Active Northumberland and did themselves proud. All the children demonstrated the school games values of passion, self-belief, respect, honesty, determination and teamwork. They had a great time, we hope you did too!

“ I liked the idea of sitting in the shade to keep everyone cool. ”

School Sport Organising Crew
Our fantastic Year 5 crew, Connie, Erica and Isobel, have been developing their organisational skills by helping to run the Physical Fun Club after school club for Years 1- 4. The girls have been excellent at preparing the games and equipment and have loved awarding children they work with during lunchtime, along with the Year 6 crew, with certificates celebrating the school games values of Passion, Self-Belief, Respect, Honesty, Determination and Teamwork.
Northumberland Skipping Festival
On Monday 16th May Ford class travelled to meet other schools for a skipping festival. The children enjoyed learning individual, paired and team games, as well as getting a skipping rope and a certificate for taking part.
We Don't Like Cricket - We LOVE It!
Every year, pupils all over the country enjoy a week of cricket-themed activity in the classroom, on the playground and in local communities, this year National Cricket Week will be 27th June to the 1st July. Children from Pre-school to Year 6 at Hipsburn Primary showcased how cricket has the power to give ALL young people a positive experience of sport with coaches from Alnwick Cricket Club earlier this summer term. The children loved taking part in lessons and personal challenges. Well done everyone!

Virtual School Games - Y5 and Y6
Franki Clark, Head of PE & School Sport/Active Northumberland and School Games Organiser for North Northumberland has sent her congratulations and certificates to Year 5 for coming 3rd in the virtual School Games football competition and to Year 6 for coming 2nd in hockey.
Both sports were played against local schools and results were emailed in then totted up. She will be in touch with regard to the virtual county finals in June.

Northumberland Cricket Finals - Year 4 (May 2021)
All the children in Year 4 have received a certificate for taking part in the virtual Northumberland Cricket Finals. They demonstrated the School Games values of Passion, Self-Belief, Respect, Honesty, Determination and Teamwork as they competed with support from Tom Vickers, our local cricket development officer. We are all very proud of their achievements.
The Daily Mile - April 2021
Over 1780+ schools - with more than half a million children - took part in England Does The Daily Mile today , Friday 30th April and Hipsburn was one of them!
It has been fantastic to know schools across the nation have been running together for better mental health awareness. We certainly love The Daily Mile.
Gymnastics
Children in Dunstanburgh have been developing their symmetrical and asymmetrical balance skills in gymnastics lessons with Mrs Burroughs this half term. The children developed their resilience as they worked with partners to create their own presentations showcasing their understanding of ways to balance safely.

Intra School Sports - 22nd October 2019
Mrs Burroughs has brought out Hipsburn's competitive spirit by holding an end of half term intra crew netball competition for Etal. North team won with 13 points, followed closely by West with 11 points. East came next with 7 points and lastly, South with 5 points. Congratulations North!
Dunstanburgh crews also had a great afternoon having an intra crew basketball competition. It was a draw for South and East with 13 points, West came in second place with 7 points and this time, in last place was North with 3 points. Well done to all the children for displaying the school games values of teamwork, respect,self-belief, determination, honesty and passion.
